Planning Your Event
What needs to be considered when choosing a DJ for your event?
Here are a few misconceptions of DJ's that should be considered before you choose a DJ.
-
Entertainment is not that important to a party. - The entertainment is one of the most important services to an event. The DJ will be remembered by you & your guests for many years.
-
DJ's have a lot of fun at events and get paid for it.- DJ's are not guests at events. DJ's are there to work to make your event a night to remember for years to come. People often rank their weddings as the most important day of their lives next to the day their children are born. Yet some will give this responsibility to the lowest bidder. The stress levels and expectations run very high during these events. After all the planning and expenses are invested the ultimate outcome of a wedding is placed almost solely in the hands of the DJ.
-
Good events just happen.- Good events don't just happen on their own without some guidance. The key is timing and experience. A good DJ knows how to keep the event running smooth without problems.
-
DJ's are all pretty much the same. - To say that all DJ's are all alike is to say that people are all alike. Experience and music knowledge all make a big difference. DJ's have there own unique style, music and presentation. A good DJ can adjust his style to fit the event. A presentation at a School party should be a lot different than a Retirement Dinner Dance or a Wedding Reception. Experienced DJ's know the difference and you should be aware of the many subtle and substantial differences that distinguish Mobile DJ Entertainers.
-
To be a DJ all you really need is a few CD's and a stereo system. - DJ's do a lot more than just play cd's and talk on a microphone. Professional DJ's must have an extensive music library to accommodate a variety of music requests. The DJ is also the event coordinator, communicating with the hall manager, photographer, videographer to make sure that everyone is where they are suppose be at the appropriate time. Not only does the DJ coordinate people but also the events throughout the evening: Introductions, Cake Cutting, First Dance etc... Making sure that these events are done in a timely and professional manner cannot be done by just anyone, but an experienced professional. Speaking in front of a large group of people is not for everyone. In order to do this and make it look easy is only accomplished by a true professional.
As you can tell there is a lot that goes into picking the right DJ for your special day. The more information you can get about a DJ the better off you are. One of the best ways to get information about is DJ is to see them in action. Have the DJ give you some dates of events they are performing at so you can see them live. Once you found the right DJ for your event, be sure to book them well in advance because professional DJ's start to book dates up to 1 year in advance.
